Default 1993 Formula

Might be picking up a 1993 Formula Firebird this weekend. Red hardtop, only 60,000 on it, good price. Must have been kept inside, interior is in great shape, no dash/door panel cracks.

Is there anything in particular I should look out for being this was the first model year???

Thanks,
Paul

I had a '96 Formula for 9 years and there really were not any major issues other than the usual headlight gears and power windows, etc... You just fix 'em as you go along. Here is a link for a few recalls. They may not be applicable for your car.
By the way, nice find!

92-93 LT1 engines were different than the 94 & up versions. The 92–93 LT1s used speed density fuel management, batch-fire fuel injection and a dedicated engine control module (ECM). In 94 the LT1 switched to a mass airflow sensor and sequential port injection. A new, more capable computer controlled the transmission as well as the engine and got a new name: powertrain control module (PCM). Where the 92-93 ECM held its calibration information in a replaceable chip, the later PCM was reprogrammable through the diagnostic port. The transmission for the 92-93 engines was the 4L60 (not the 4L60E version) and they had a downshift cable much like a 700R did.
