Default Whats your opinion?

I have a 1998 Firebird v6 3.8L it has 163000 on it and is getting to the point where it is needing a good amount of work.
I have coolant leaking from the intake manifold and my transmission is leaking at pretty much all the seal points. So if its that bad I'm guessing I should just rebuild or replace the Trans.
Here is what I'm thinking my options are:
1. Rebuild the trans and fix the leak in the intake.
2. Replace the trans with a new one, fix the intake.
3. Rebuild the trans and the engine while in at it.
4. Replace both the trans and the engine.
5. Replace the engine and trans but upgrade to the the v8 and proper trans for it.
6. Save up and get an 2002 trans am with under 60,000 on it.

Just wanted to know your guys opinions and if anyone has done either of these options and had good/bad results.
Keep in mind I'm in college and really don't have that much money so what ever I do it will probably have to wait a while unless its cheap enough. Cheap enough being under $3000.

Thank for all the help!!!

For your situation, being low on resources (time and money) I'd say either replace the trans with a junkyard find or yes rebuild it, fix the coolant leak, drive it till you've saved up enough for a V8 firebird and sell the V6. But that's the sensible plan and that may not be you so do what you think you will be satisfied with.

The V8 swap can be done, but requires several parts swaps besides just the engine & trans. You can see my entire ordeal in the thread linked in my signature.

I would just fix the car & keep driving it while you save for what you really want.
