Trade 97 Vortech Cobra for 01 Trans Am?
So I have a 97 Pacific Green Cobra. It has about 136k miles on it. With the Vortech and bolt ons it put down 412rwhp. Now I have an opportunity to trade for a 01 Trans AM automatic with 128k miles. It has almost all the bolt ons, small stall converter (around 2600), full rear suspension, killer stereo, body looks great. The guy just got it tuned and it put down 336rwhp and 350tq. I must admit when I drove the car before the tune it did not feel as fast as my car. It did have more bottom end but the top end was not even close. It is about a straight up trade and I can not make up my mind. Here are the ads for our cars.
Please help me decide what to do.

It's really up to you. As far as the car to car comparison, one is 4 years newer with less miles, so thats a huge bonus. As far as the power, yeah, you're car does put down more power but it does have an aftermarket supercharger. It's easy to get that power out of an fbody if you need more power. A 5psi blower would accomplish similar numbers with bolt-ons on an LS1 f-body.

It all depends on what you want. The Mustang is a nice car putting down great power. If you want to go faster then you could either mod the mustang more or trade for the trans am and mod it. If its a straight trade then youll have to invest money in the trans am if you do want to go fast. But what are you looking to do with the car is the better question is it a DD? Weekend car?

Yea its a dd. I commute 30 miles each way to DC a few times a week so an automatic would be nice for that. My car drives much tighter than the T/A and my engine is fresher, as well as my interior being better. The T/A has better paint but the damn hood needs to be painted on his. I cannot stand the bare carbon fiber and hood pins.

Most of us in here are gonna tell ya to make the trade because this is the Firebird forum
I guess you need to ask yourself why you're wanting to get rid of your Mustang, and would you really be happy with the Trans Am in the long run. Whatever you decide, you're working with two great cars.

That's a tough one both cars have ups, you could easily make the T/A hit the same numbers your cobra has but you would have to get a new rear also. Your cobra looks great and I'm sure you already know that car pretty good but the 4 yrs newer and less miles is a big plus to me and I'm sure you'll miss your clutch action soon.

I would not trade. You have a very nice car and you know your history of your car and that it can get you from a to b as a dd. You never know what that trans am has been through. Bein its a dd I would say no for that reason. If it wasn't a dd then maybe I would think about it.

Definitely trade - that's an ugly green! Just kidding!
Seriously, I like the TA but I like the manual and Vortech more. Plus the guy sounds flaky in his craigslist ad. He just has to have a truck and now he's trading for a Mustang? I hate dealing with people like that.

Ended up trading for a 99 Z28 with milled 243 heads, trorquer v2, yank 3600, bolt ons, and 3.73s. Came with big and littles but I traded for 01 SS wheels. God I love nbm Camaros. Looks so good with the SS hood and spoiler. Thanks for talking me out of that T/A.
