If i want to make the engine just a bit more ballsy, should I change the transmission? I want to keep as much of the value of the car as possible. It's an 89 GTA with a 305-5speed combo.

So much depends on the condition of the car and the mileage as well.
Unless your car is an ultra low mileage, excellent condition example (that means it needs nothing!), then do what you want with it and enjoy it.
I'm sure you saw the post of the 'new GTA' I posted about earlier this month https://ls1tech.com/forums/pontiac-f...ns-am-gta.html so you can see that even a new one isn't going to make you wealthy. Here is another one on ebay that isn't getting much action and it looks as sweet as the new one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TRANS...item19d8aec468
Most (not all) bring under $10,000 unless they meet that criteria I set above. You haven't provided the details on your car so we can't answer without knowing. Stock, unmolested examples bring the top $$$. Turbos are really bringing good $$$.

Damn that black one is the sex! Had an 87 with digital dash and had some special edition logos on the front fender too. Miss the hell out of it!
Too bad about the front plate

it was appraised at $6500 CAD with shitty paint. 226,000KMS or 141,250 miles.

well, I guess I'll have it repainted then have it re-appraised, if I dont at least get my money back for the paint job, I'll modify it.

Search thirdgen.org for your answer.
I think you can make 2 small cuts to the rear of your shifter opening and fold the metal back a inch or so and thats all..
