A lot of people tend to have a easier time dropping the motor down than pulling it out from the top with a crate lifter. Do you have a lift?

Dropped the engine out of my mustang at the shop on base more times than I'd like to admit. Its super easy if you can do it that way (ie have access to a lift) but what sold me is theres almost no way to screw up your paint and stuff

i dropped my motor out the bottom. i got the car high enough with some blocks and jackstands. it worked fine for me, just take the lip off the bumper and it'll clear.

Put the rear wheels on ramps and elevate with a few 2x12s. Support the cradle assembly with a cart to ease moving it around. Worked great for me....

I've done it this way, with a lift and pulled them out the top. A lift is the easiest way but this way is not near as bad as out the top. I pulled my exhaust and rear bumper just to be on the safe side and lifted the front to the moon.

Smokinponcho73 in PNW forum has like railroad ties he chopped and stacked. It's sitting on those with 4 stands underneath. The middle is cutout for crawl access.

If you do not have a lift, do your car and yourself a favor and just go out the top. It would suck to drop you car lifting it all sketchy. I did mine out the top lifting it on jack stands about a foot or so, car stayed there the whole time then cherry picked it out the top, don't remove hood cause there a PITA to line back up perfect, then when your coming out have a friend disconnect the hood shocks to have hood go further back and it should come right out. Its even easier when you have trans out but still an easy job coming out the top and would do it again, all you need is like 4 feet in front of the car for cherry picker.

Yeah, dropping the car would suck. Nice job with that space Mertez. Smokinponcho rigged up his rail road ties like a drive up ramp style. Guess I like his setup.

I've never seen a V8 pulled out the top on an Fbody, did it with a V6 and it was a pain in the ***. IMELDA lining up a hood isn't hard done it 100 times never took more then 10min
