Default What Cold Air Intake and Muffler brand should I got with?

Just looking for ideas. I'm new to the Bird nation so I'd rather take ideas from Bird enthusiast's. No other mods done @ this time.

Cold Air Intake: Volant
K&N
SLP

Muffler: Flowmaster
Magnaflow
Borla

I'd say SLP lid with a K&N filter, and Borla adjustable catback...

I have had this site saved for awhile.

http://www.ls1sounds.com/

I am running the SLP Loudmouth 1 exhaust with stock headers. Its not for everyone, but I love it!! The airbox I have came with the Suncoast Creations Ram Air hood. Uses a K&N filter.

Any lid will do the job just fine... Don't do a volant/filter setup.

I prefer Magnaflow, after that would be Borla.
If you are staying with stock manifolds you could do a loud mouth... If you plan on headers, stay away from it.

SSRA or Chris1313 Ram air, with any lid and a filter of your choice with a GMMG catback. You won't be disappointed.

Cut out the stock air box with a cut off wheel. PP the TB bump stop delete. Go smooth bellows. I'd do SLP lid for the Money . Trick is getting it to fit right. NP

What's wrong with the volant?
I haven't heard of any real gains with a volant or any losses really. It's more of an appearence thing, and I like it. I don't like either of those mufflers; but I went with cherrybomb. I took a "dare to be different" approach seeing as how most go with those 3 you listed in the poll (and the muffleres others are listing).

Why limit yourself to those choices? Personally, I'd say if you're gonna crash the money for a Borla, there are other options out there. I'm biased, but I think GMMG chambered exhaust is one of the best sounding ones out there, and it's in the same price range as a Borla.

This is what it sounds like on an otherwise stock exhaust:

Here's what mine sounds like with LT headers and hi-flow cats:

^I'm pretty positive you can't order from GMMG anymore, as they went out of business, but you can still get the catback from a handful of vendors.

Hawksthirdgen, Vengeance Racing, and Madhammer all sell it (Madhammer is actually the manufacturer of all of them)

It looks like your exhuast tips are hanging pretty low there DrEvyl. Maybe just the angle?

Smooth bellows is a waste of money.

They don't make the power a lid/ram air setup makes.

You might like the appearance but you are missing out on power.

Yeah, it's just the angle. The camera is about a foot off the ground.

SLP lid and GMMG catback. If you're planning on getting Longtube headers, scratch the catback and get Texas Speed and Performance duals dumped before the axles for your Formula. You'll love them.

The TSP duals sound nice, but for a street driven car the vibration/drone gets to be way to much IMO. Longtubes with GMMG gets kind of raspy, but it's nothing an additional chambered muffler can't solve.

If you had a track purposed vehicle, i'll recommend the TSP true duals dumped before the axle. However, for a street driven car, you can never go wrong with a GMMG catback. If you decide not to keep your cats, you could just weld a powerstick muffler in the I pipe to kill the rasp.. Below are the 2 videos that sold me on the GMMG exhaust...I've been running it for almost 3 years in two different Fbodies and i couldn't be happier..You'll get attention everywhere you go...Can't tell you how many times people have stopped me just to find out what exhaust i'm running...

I love the SLP kit! infact bud we have the same, best flow there is, keep your lid! for exhaust go with a good set of LT's and do straight pipes either w/ or w/o X pipe and throw on Borla XR-1. check the price on Summit its pretty good price for being Borla
