Default Like new T/A's still exist

It's truly amazing what fine examples still exist 12 years later. I just saw this one listed in Illinois. A WS6 6-speed with 5,000 miles. If you ever wanted to go back in time to buy one 'like new' it still can be done. I'm sure there are some nitpicks here and there but the car is also $10,000+ under what it sold for, even at this dealer. Probably can be had for $20,000 'out the door'. I'm finding that these 'modern' F-bodies don't suffer too bad in storage or 'less than normal' use. Quite a change from the older cars that suffered issues from sitting too long. Here is a link if interested. Lots of photos. Wish I was in the market but I prefer 'verts.

My step dads cousin traded in her 02 TA last year with 19000 on it. Bone stock. They gave her something like $18000 trade in. I was shocked by that. And she was going to sell it to me for 14k except it was auto and I wanted stick.

Nice!! I still see a few CETAs out there with crazy low miles but even they are getting fewer and fewer every month. The ultra low mileage non CETA WS6 cars, especially with 6 speeds, are getting real thin.

They're definitely around because of guys who bought them thinking to hold them as collector cars. But not having the patience to hold on to them for 20+ years, they decide to sell. Really nice examples can be found in the $20k range. I would worry about leaky seals and stuff, but compare overall to the price of new cars.

It'd be fun to start fresh all over again

Great looking car indeed! I wish my car had the TCS button. Guess I need to be extra careful driving in the rain.

I just bought a 2000 Trans Am 6-speed with all the bells and whistles from the original owner in Springfield Illinois, it had 538 original miles on it when I pulled it out of his driveway and drove it home! All original down to the Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. He drove it a little bit every year just around his neighborhood. He let the plates expire in 2010 when he started having some health issues. I paid just at half the original MSRP of $32K. Car looks, smells and feels like new. Had to replace the brake rotors cause they had high spots on them from where the brake pads sat unmoved for the last 3 years.
The T-Top blind inserts were still brand new in the bag laying in the rear hatch and he had never removed the T-Tops.

I know its just me but it sure seems like a shame to drive that car and put any miles on it...it should be (IMO) one of the ones that is never driven.

But I am SURE I am the only one that feels that way (and actually owns cars that I wouldn't even dream of driving) and its your car so enjoy it....unless you want to make some money on it! PM me if you do...and its still under 1K Miles.

I am gonna hang onto this one for awhile and yes, I am gonna drive it when I can.
I had to put new rotors on cause the pads had left high spots on the rotors from sitting. Already installed a SLP air cleaner lid and skip shift eliminator. Now I am looking at exhaust. I am carefully removing and storing all the original parts and plan on no heavy modifications. Its not a daily driver and I have had a handfull of 1st and 2nd Gen F-Bodies over the last 25+ years. I just sold my big block 73 Camaro that was just mean and nasty so this car is on the opposite end of the scale but it drive and handles like a dream! I have now put about 230 miles on it, I hit the trip meter about 7 miles from the guys house I bought it from when I stopped and filled the gas tank.

I figure 1000-1500 miles a year at the max but its not going to a trailer queen or hidden in some corner of a garage. I am going to fully enjoy this new ride!

Cars are meant to be driven. Sure, it's low mileage, but who wants to keep a car in a driveway or a garage and never actually drive it? Not me.

It wont ever see snow thats for sure and only rain if I get caught in it by accident. I have plenty of other vehicles to drive, this car is strictly for sunny days!
