Default 93 Trans Am Rear spoiler

Hi guys have any of you fitted a rear spoiler/wing to your 4th gen T/A?

My brother has a 93 Trans Am and he is thinking of fitting one to his but would like to see some pics of one before doing it.

This is the type he is thinking of

Well that is your opinion but we like the big spoilers and if we can find a pic and it looks good then we will be doing it.

We will probably do it anyway without a pic but would have been nice.

Its a complete waste of money.

The factory spoiler is actually functional and far more functional than you will ever need on a street car, or even a full on drag-strip only car.

Go ahead and do it, see what it looks like then post pics. Experimentation is half the fun of this hobby.

Once he realizes its a mistake then it can be changed back.

BTW, I absolutely love the way the car looks right now. Completely badass, especially the wide body fenders.

Thanks, it took a lot of work finding a good bodykit and cutting it up to fit then making the arches etc but has been well worth all the work.

Theres a reason pics are hard to find, chances are 99% of the wings out there will look horrible. A custom one might look ok, but it still wouldn't likely flow with the rest of the car. If you want increased downforce look into a spoiler like this:

If you want increased stability get better shocks (konis).

I think the car looks good without that spoiler. What are the mods on this car?

You sure that's a 93? The raised up spoiler didn't hit till 1994 and then it was an option. All 93s came with that low spoiler. Anyways, here's some pics.

That's not true about the 93 Trans Am's. The high rise spoiler was available in 1993. I don't know why GM ever offered the Trans Am with the low rise spoiler. It looks fine on the Formula and base models but out of place on the Trans Am with the ground effects. A Trans Am GT had the uplevel spoiler where a "base" Trans Am had the low spoiler. I've even seen some stock 95 Trans Am's with the low level spoiler but I've never seen where that was even an option in 1995.

Well, I guess I'll stand corrected. Seems like I remember reading in some Firebird books that 93 didn't have the T43 high rise spoiler, but since when can you believe everything your read anywhere, be it book or online. Seems like I remember reading the T43 high rise was an option all the way till 96 then that's when it became standard in 97.

Eh, either way, OP do whatever you want to your car.

I agree, OP do what you want. I'll have to look into the high rise spoiler being an option until 1996. I never heard that, thank you for that information. Beautiful Maple Red T/A you have!!!

I think this was was on the turn over point as some bits are from a 94 but most from the 93.
