Default 98 t/a ls1 into 99-up t/a

Hey guys looking for info on what will or will not work with putting a v8 in a v6 car.

I bought a 98 ta out of alabama and it was in need of max tlc. I've given up on trying to restore this body but found a couple v6 cars on Craigslist in decent shape. My car runs and drives fine. Everything is there mechanically.

So should I look for a 98 body so I dont have any wiring issues? Will the engine harness and ecm from a 98 v8 car plug and play in a 98 v6 car? If I get a 99up car would my entire harness/ ecm plug and play? Or should I just seek out a 99 ecm to use anyway? Then I know I will have to change a few pins to use the 98 harness. All in all, what direction would be the easiest without much re-wiring?

Thanks

Going to pick up a 99 v6 body next week. If there is any info on what I need to put my 98 v8 harness in a 99-up v6 car it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Pretty much do the harnesses match up from 98-02 v8 and v6 cars? I really need some help with this. The car I was going to get ended up being in worse condition than they said and I'd like to be sure before I buy a new car. Thanks

Harness is different on '98 cars, also... if you use the '99 harness and PCM you should be okay AFAIK.

GM High Tech Performance covered a V6 to V8 firebird swap in their Feb '13 issue. Very good info in the article that will help you.

Are you saying that the body harnesses are different? That a 98 v8 engine harness wont plug and play with a 99 v6 body harness?

Anyone know of any issues to look for when putting a 98 harness and computer in a 99-up?
