I got my glowshift gauges the other day. Installed the three pillar pod and wired all three gauges up, but only the trans temp is hooked up to the sensor so far. They look better than I expected, and I love the color choices.
So far my trans temp stays at 140 cruising and only hit 160 max today with normal driving. I may not need my b&m trans cooler I bought. I used the test port on the drivers side of the trans to install the sensor. I'm also hooking up fuel pressure and oil pressure. Ill update those later.

You'll probably need the trans cooler when summer hits. I lived in Bryan one summer, it gets plenty hot out. I would hang onto it and see how your does then. Awesome build!

Thanks. Yeah I'll probably leave it in the box until I either need it, or have excess time on my hands. I am curious what the temps will be after a few hot laps at the track. I've heard the sensor on the bellhousing reads a few degrees higher also.

Thinking about doing a copy cat build off this for my 95 formula couple questions..... Did you have to modify you headers when you put the 5.3 in and also if I switched from the lt1 to the 5.3 do I have to change or modify the motor mounts?

The headers are direct drop ins. They are for ls1's but the 5.3 is architecturally the same.

You'll need a ls1 4th gen k member and motor mounts

not counting the suspension and trans stuff how much did the actual swap run you with all the new gaskets and intake and stuff?

To be honest I lost count. And I probably don't want to know. I got the motor for $500, sold some extras like a fuel pump and regulator I got with it for $200. Complete k member assembly for $275, turned out more than I needed so I sold the brakes and spindles for $100. Didn't use the steering rack but haven't sold yet. The intake/tb/fuel-rails/36# injectors with bolts and arp head bolts and main studs for $400. Sold the main studs for $175. Oil pan, and various used front accessories for about $250? The cam was $100. I made a $500 order of all new gaskets, oil pump, ls7 lifters, ls6 springs, ls2 timing set and other small parts. New fuel pump was $100. The original used trans was $400, and used circle d billet converter $250. (The rebuild was $600 in parts, $175 for a custom converter) Wiring harness and PCM was $250. Tune was $175. I usually round it to $3,000 when people ask me.

That's a memory list I just made, I know there are a lot more parts I used, but can't think of. I just took it slow and didn't really make a budget. I just spent what I had at the time on the best possible deals I could find. Being a kid all the money I made went into the car.

Props to ya man, good read. I bought a burgandy 2000 firebird up there in college station that was not running. It's the same 3.8 60e setup. I had a 415 built with ls3 pnp heads that I want to get swapped into the firebird along with a 4l80e built by rusty. I hope to be doing something with it once I get tired of driving it.

Installed some Koni Str.T front shocks and Koni Sport rears with Strano springs. The car rides on rails now, I'm really satisfied with the setup.

Just a few photo updates. I installed a Transgo HD2 shift kit, a deep pan, and a Potz ported throttle body.

what did you do about fuel lines? I know the v6 cars have 3 and the ls cars have 2 or something like that. Or was there no change?

I simply added my own T block in the factory v6 fuel lines. It connects the feed and return together just like the ls1 cars.

I haven't had the chance to go to a track yet, I'm hoping this summer I can.
