I'm in the process of swapping a 09 5.3 into my 02 camaro and had a few questions about the build. were you able to pass inspection? Why didn't you use your original 4l60E? Did you have to run new fuel lines? would a computer from an older ls1 be best or should I look for a 09 truck computer?
I had to change fuel lines yes, but I simply added a return line using a t block, just copying the v8 style.
I am using an ls1 pcm, it works just fine with my v8 f body harness.

TechCam beat me too it, thanks. And yes I passed inspection because they only do a visual. They made me add a cat and change my window tint. But as far as an engine swap texas doesn't check.

The 4l60e is hit or miss depends on how you drive and what power you make. Many have done just fine with their stock trans. I have gone through two built units and a stock one, so I decided to t56 swap. Unfortunately still having problems with that. It's all about the builder is all I learned.

If I get it rebuilt couldn't I just keep the funds for putting into the new one and convert the existing? an import shaft can't be too expensive and hard to install.

Hey! I have a 98 firebird with a 3.8L and want to swap a 5.3 in it. For now, I'm thinking stock and eventually build it up later on. What all is needed just to get it rolling while stock? Also what's an estimated price range for the parts?

Any fbody driveshaft will work. And as long as the years to the harness and car are the same then it's a bolt in swap, except the bank 2 wire mentioned in the thread.

99 firebird lsx swap
I'm doing the same swap as you have and I have a question about the wiring did you have to run any extra wires on the harness? And what did you do about bypassing the security on the car?

I am doing a 5.3 swap out of a 2002 Avalanche (LM7) into a 1994 firebird formula (V8). I already bought a smaller oil pan, going carburator with nitrous, .590 lift cam, and a 2005 4l60e with a TCI torque converter (3000-3500 stall). I know I have to get longer push rods. I have to get a new k member but are $400-$670. I have read that an Ls1 k member would allow the 5.3 to bolt up to it. Is it possible to put a Camaro or firebird Ls1 k member into a 1994 firebird and what header would I need? Thanks
