Default Starting problem - 6 speed

Sometimes my car wont crank over. Then after a second it cranks over just fine. The battery and terminals are fine. No clicking or slow cranking. Could it be the neutral safety switch on the blink.

Is the security light on the dash on or blinking while you try to crank it?

Probably the clutch switch acting up.

If it is a Clutch Pedal Position Switch, then DO NOT get anything other than a real GM part - I broke 3 Autozone units in 3 days, then I put on a GM unit and I've been going strong for over 5 years.

If that, however is not the problem, then find your VATS relay and make sure the very small BLK / WHT ground wire is not loose in the relay mount / 4-pin connector.

This was also a problem on my car; after I secured the GND wire (so the VATS relay would actually trip and then allow B+ to flow to the starter!), no more random starting issues.

Good luck!
