Default wiring 99 ls1 into a 2000 firebird

New guy here...I'm in the process of doing an ls1 swap on my 2000 firebird and the donor car is a 99 trans am. I'm about ready to put the ls1 in the firebird I just need to do the wiring. I need to know if the 99 harness will plug and play with the 2000 or will I have to go in and rewire something? It all looks like it'll plug up and work but I don't want any surprises...thanks in advance

I believe all the wiring was the same from 99-02 but I'm not 100% positive.

Anyone else want to chime in?

I read that the 99s have that low coolant sensor and the 00 didn't so I didn't know if there were anymore major differences...should be put in and on the road this weekend

00birdls1 welcome to LS1tech!

The wiring for the engines is the same between 1999 and 2000. All fourth generation F-bodies had a coolant level sensor in the radiator on the passenger side tank.

Is your 2000 Firebird an LS1 Formula or a V6 Firebird?

That's what I suspected. The wiring issue is a little more complicated. I assume you have a complete LS1 engine harness. There's a wire to run to the fuse block IIRC to get the injectors to work.

I tried to find the thread that details this but couldn't ...

PM this guy and he should fill you in on everything you need to know. He swapped an LS1 into a V6 Firebird and it went rather well for him.

I took the entire wiring harness from the engine bay including fuse boxes light sockets the whole nine yards...will I still need to run that wire?

Messaged that guy he said since I'm swapping fuse boxes to I don't have to run any wires so I shouldn't have any issues and should be on the road this weekend for a Sunday cruise
