Default How rare is this 01 FireHawk vert?

I spotted this car at a used car dealer today. They want a fortune for it! I'm not familiar with the FireHawk production numbers. Is it super rare?Name: 577977A2-9E61-4805-883F-3429D20AC635.png

I know it's an 01, but the numbers from 02 would at least give you an idea...

It has the wrong hood on it. Either somebody cloned a 10th Anniversary Hawk and put a WS6 hood on it or it's a true 10th car and somebody swapped hoods (for some insane reason). Definitely check RPO codes and VIN to prove it's legit. There was only 139 10th Anni Firehawks built though with only 15 units being convertibles, so it's a rare car indeed. 9 in the USA and 6 in Canada.

You got a link to this site so I can check out some more pics? Thanks.

This is cut and paste from the Internet ad:

2001 Pontiac Trans Am
FIREHAWK, for sale in Lethbridge, AB
1 OF ONLY 16 EVER PRODUCED
This is a super rare find thats not even supposed to exist. This car is in-fact probably the most rare Firebird in existence. In 2001 they made 540 total Firehawks and only 139 fire hawk 10th anniversary cars. If you google 10th anniversary fire hawk you will see according to even Motortrend there were 139 and all were to be T-top special edition cars. The 10th anniversary Firehawks were not to be available in a convertible, yet here it is. After many hours of research and according to actual Pontiac numbers and the fire hawk registry this is only one of 16 ever made! And there were only 4 maple leaf edition (Canadian cars) convertibles. This car is incredibly rare, you cant even google 10th anniversary Pontiac Firehawk convertible and see a picture of one! There is not one for sale anywhere in north America. Not even a T-top one for sale not mind a convertible. The car even comes with a whole binder of documentation from GM, and SLP. Including the original non-used NIVIS registration form that is super rare to get with a car because youre supposed to give that to registration. The manual folder is leather and 10th anniversary embroidered, special collector note pad, pen, key chains (new in the wrapper), transport papers, window sticker, and way too many more collectible paraphernalia to mention here. This is a future Barrett Jackson car without a question. They made 16 of these.

A quick Google search and I can see what your saying about the hood.
Good eye.
Something fishy going on there.

I think for ***** n giggles I'm going to email the dealer for more info. I'll act interested in buying it. Although I'm not....

Well, if it is in fact a super rare car. It's sad that it's sitting outside covered in snow right now....

I tried to zoom in on the paperwork but it just got pixelated. Except for the hood everything looks legit. I knew all Canadian bound Hawks were "Maple Leafs". Without knowing what # 10th Hawk it is it may be hard to cross reference. Here are the 9 US 10th Anni Hawks and 6 Canadian 10th Anni Hawks I found. Not sure where the ad states 16 units produced but I would say it's plausible given all the paperwork. It is indeed sad to see it in snow if it is legit.

I am really familiar with the 10th Hawk cause my buddy has one and I have taken over 200 pics of it. I drool over it. I'll have to see if I can get my hands on some of the documentation because his Dad ordered it and bought it brand new. Here are some pics of it.

The salesman emailed me pictures of the paperwork. I could post it if you'd like?
He said the car is sold Feb 1st once an American collector gets back from holidays.....
But it's fair game if somebody beats him too it.
(Sounds like a typical, salesman tale.....)

Here is the response to the question, "why does it have the WS-6 ram air hood and not the Firehawk hood? Was it involved in a collision and replaced with the WS-6 hood?"

Response:

No absolutely no collision. It’s all original paint. Its very odd, the guy that owned and ordered the car owned the Pontiac dealership it was ordered from. Either he changed and lost the hood when he lost his dealership (which I doubt) or he made arrangements with SLP as a favour to keep the WS6 hood and intake. I think the latter is what happened. I have never called SLP to find out. Worst-case someone has to find a Firehawk hood and put it on, which the car comes with a complete new second set of 10th Ann decals. Or there is a real possibility it’s a one-off car and worth even more, I have a feeling that may be the case. Either way based on my price I didn’t take into consideration that its possibly even more rare. That’s why I did so much research before we purchased the car too, because I didn’t think it was real because of the hood.
There is no catch, this car is super rare and not even supposed to exist. To put into perspective, there were 1600 99 30th anniversary trans ams, they planned on 1000 10th ann cars, and only made 139 and just 16 (ish) convertibles, plus by the time you figure all of the SLP choices made including the Auburn rear diff, it’s probably a 1 of 4 or 1 of 2 car. I’m sure it would appraise for much much higher if the appraiser could even find a comparable which there has never been even one for sale. The wheels don’t even have a scuff. It seems fishy and too good to be true. The first guy that realizes what this is, is going to have an amazing value.
Sorry about grammar and spelling. Lol.

You should ask him; if it is so rare, why the hell is it sitting in the snow?

Well, seems to be legit. I recognize most of those forms as my friend has most of those too. I also found pics of this specific Hawk on Firehawkowners.com

Details on the car "C019 10th:#C05" which can clearly be seen in this pic, along with the owners name -->

http://www.firehawkowners.com/car/2262.html

Followed by more pics of said car in a dealership and it clearly has the same WS6 style hood. Really can't explain it. -->

http://www.firehawkowners.com/galler...awk/2001/C019/

All I know is they better get that thing out of the damn snow.

Good work! I guess when the guy did order it, he must have requested the WS-6 hood. Instead of the Firehawk hood. Strange?
Indeed a rare car.

I'm going to bring it to the attention of my accountant. He is a car collector.
