The V6 PCM is completely different. You need one from a 96 or 97 LT1 car. I'm not sure if the B-body PCM will work, but it's not like an F-body PCM is expensive used.
What's your problem? The PCM is pretty robust and not many have been known to actually fail (aside from bricking during tuning).

Thanks for your reply! I've done a tune up, checked my fuel injectors and changed my o2 sensors and put a fuel filter on it. I have a miss that I can't seem to get rid of, seems to be bottom end whatever it is has no take off power but once it get going it runs good but when cruising down the road when I push the peddle down to about 1500 rpm the car shakes real bad and I keep getting cylinder 3 codes. Me and my stepdad keep working on it and he seems to think it's the PCM, I hope so because if it's the cylinder I'm screwed.

Just figured there's something I don't know about the PCM's, like if any v8 camaros or another make or model car has the same thing. Bet I could go to a junkyard and pull one out of some old car for a cheap price. googled my pcm number and found http://support.moates.net/96-97-corv...-and-16242921/ hoping any of these PCM's off of these cars would maybe work?
96-97 Corvette, Camaro, Firebird, Impala, Caprice, etc.16214399 and 16242921

Then they're probably all the same. I highly doubt your PCM is the problem, they don't cause a misfire. What usually goes bad is a single driver that will fail. You'd be much better off posting your problem in the LT1 section, there are lots of guys in there experienced with misfires with these engines.
What codes are you getting? If you're only getting misfires on cylinder 3, then check the plug wire for damage. Ohm it out, run the engine at night and look for a light show that indicates arcing.

Where is the lt1 section, maybe post a link for me. I've seen over 200 threads about this and that but none about what I was talking about. Unless I need to make my own thread.

I used a pcm in my 97 firebird out of a 97 camaro had it flashed at the dealership it works fine. You cant get the programming anywhere other than the dealership im not sure about aftermarket programs
