Default melted turn signal

Passenger front turn signal corroded bad and now the plastic burned. Wondering if there is a way to run a water proof leds instead of the socket. I already ordered a replacement just curious. its a 2002 ws6

The leads aren't your problem. The inside of the lens should be dry.

The common issue is that the lens gets cracked. (In the bumper, it gets hit with a ton of debris.) At speed, the wind pressure opens up the crack and lets water in. You may even find pooling water inside. If you do have a crack, the lens also needs to be replaced. Just press on the lens with your finger and that should expose any cracks to you.

Are your terminals so corroded that they can't be re-used? Have you seen the no-splice option for socket replacement in the stickies? You may be able to disassemble your current socket and see if you can clean the contact up and avoid a splice.

common problem due to the design....put filament bulb in the bottom, heats up and melts the plastic housing at the top, allowing water in, ruining the sockets. replace housing, sockets, replace bulbs with leds, done.....no more cracked at the top housing from the heat of the bulb....

Get a Formula. Have a nicer looking bumper. Never have that problem in the first place.

Thats exactly what I did. New socket, new housing, LED bulb and havent had a problem ever since.

Are there any issues with the blinker speed when you run LEDs?

As long as you replace the flasher too, youll have no problems. Its less than 5 bucks at autozone.

I am sure there is a thread or three on the subject but I am feeling lazy today.

Do I replace the front and rear with LEDs and the flasher or can I just change the fronts and flasher?

Or can I install the LEDs and keep the OEM flasher if I install a resistor to create the incandescent bulb load?

you can just do the front LEDs with the flasher. The flasher model number is el12 and its actually 12 bucks, not 5 as i mentioned earlier.
