Default 1997 trans am

Just purchased a trans am and the passenger side headlight gets stuck trying to pop up and have to go pull it to position is it just the motor that needs replaced? Or could it be something else as well?

chances are its a stripped gear in the motor. Look up how to replace the headlight motor gear. Its very common and a few ways to fix it.

I have a 1999 Trans Am but same concept and identical parts.

I went through the process of replacing the motor gear and it worked for a week and then failed again. The new gear was fine, but the motor housing kept splitting
again where I epoxied it and reinforced it with zipties. It was worth it to me to just buy a new headlight motor from A1 Cardone off of rockauto.com for $83 and be
done with it. Installed it a year ago and no problems since. I just installed a power steering rack from A1 Cardone as well and I'm satisfied with their quality.

The headlight motor for a 1997 seems to be more expensive so its your call.
Here is a link: http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/p...amp+motor,1412

If you decide to buy a replacement gear you can get a plastic one from part stores or a bronze one from this link.
This link also shows how to do the repair process: http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/headlightfix/index.htm
