Default Project MONSTA 1999 WS6

Bought this car when I was 19 drove it stock for awhile then about 10 years ago I installed AFR heads a comp cam and comp cam 1.85 ratio rockers Mac long tube headers with off-road Y pipe and cat Back exhaust. Double roller timing chain slp oversized oil pump Custom pushrods fast LSX intake BBK throttle body KN filter Slp air induction kit and BG ram air sealing kit asp under drive pulley ngk tr55 plugs 180 degree thermostat. BMR sfc connectors A century transmission stage 3 with shift kit 4l60e vigilante 3300 rpm stall 3.73 gears. Tuned by predator via handheld and email tune. First second gear are worthless no traction lol. This is been a really reliable engine for me I have 32,000 miles I think on the car total with at least 15,000 with all the mods. The LSX throttle body was not available when I got the LSX intake manifold so I got the bbk. Everything else is stock. The new rims are CCW SP 500 19 inch rear 305/30/19 Michelin pilot super sport. The front are 18 inch 275/35/18 CCW SP 500 I also installed the 6LE chin spoiler I have the side splitters as well but I don't know if I'm going to install those or not. When I get the Baer brakes installed I'll post some more pictures the pictures are not the best they're from my iPhone. Hopefully I'll be updating this thread with more stuff still have Interior suspension and hopefully a HK racing engine (if that dude is still in business. Been out of the car addiction for awhile have no idea.) the last two pics are upside down wtf.

When it had a ported MAF 373 gears only it did 12.89 at 107 mph. Haven't had it at the track since. It's quick though. The only time I've been beat is by a ZO6 and in my opinion it was because of traction I was laying rubber all the way to 75 and I was right at his rear bumper the whole time if I hooked I would've gave him a whippin. No Dyno and I know there is some hp on the table still there is a Dyno in town will get there eventually. For now I've spent enough $ in it for awhile.

How do you like those brakes? I debate getting them vs Willwood's vs vette brakes. Are they worth the $$? I'd also like to do wheels next year as well. LOL

I'll do a full review when I've had a chance to really work them I have to wax the rims with some poor boys protectant wax as well to fend off the brake dust I'll have some more photos to. putting on a TA girdle on the the diff for some support for that poor mistreated 10 bolt lol. Most likely get a strange rear end eventually chime in on plus and minus about Strange vs moser.

The brakes have a lengthy break in period for the rotors and pads. I'll let you guys know how well they stop when I'm through with it. On a side note I'm doing a alternator swap tomorrow hopefully that thing never did the job after all the mods especially with asp pulley thinking bout the truck alternator swap. On a separate note I got 4 free tires today courtesy of my dealership for my 15 Ltz z71 Silverado the truck has 24680 on it and all four tires were cracked and weather checked. They were also very hard to balanceto run true the new ones roll sweet feels like a whole different truck. If you have factory bridge stone duellers 22 tires I would check them for cracks they are covered by warranty. If they are being dicks about it they pro rate them after 12000 I had so many problems balancing them they hooked me up. Cheers.

Thanks ls1 tech read about the truck alternator swap did it today cost me 90$ because I kept old alternator had no core exchange other wise I think he said like 65 or something. gonna have a local shop rebuild it with better internals so I have a spare. Alternator was off a 04 Tahoe. 145 AMP. After swap drove it for over an hour pegged at 13v on the gauge entire time I was jammin stereo and givin it hell on the throttle even at lights it was solid. seems like a permanent fix to an old problem the asp underdrive pulley didn't help situation either pretty happy.

Beautiful car. I always wanted a black one - and that's what I have - but when I started looking I got heavily tempted a couple of times by red ones. Red looks very good on these things.

The front splitter looks OK. Please do not do the side splitters, please.

Why not run drag radials in the back?

I guess I'm just not a fan of those chin splitters or any aftermarket body kit type stuff on these cars. The rest of the car looks great. The wheels, brakes, etc. are all very nice.

Thank you for the compliment. I know what your talking about as far as the color choices black looks great on all trans ams . My first transam was black I bought it when I was 18 it was a 1997 lt1 ws6 fully loaded hard top I got whipped by a vette so I went to the go fast store which also happened to have a dealership attached to it lol to get some parts and bought the car you see here instead. As far as drag radials go I'm on the stock rear so street tires only for now I already did some damage with fresh 275 tires in the rear leaking diff tired yoke so I beefed it up a lil until I'm ready to do a strange or moser haven't decided which one to get. I'll use my stock ws6 rims for a conservative drag tire when it's ready to race ultimately I want an all around fast car not just go fast in a straight line which is why I'm leaning towards Strano for suspension setup. Anyone with experience with the aforementioned parts and company's please chime in.

Thank you for the feedback. But To each his own I've wanted a new look for my car to separate it from the other ws6s and there are a lot of clones etc out there to (imho we have the most copied hood out there.) I waited 18 years to change the appearance of my car I've seen all the kits and such out there this chinsplitter is sweet IMO pics dont do it justice at all the side splitters I'm on the fence about still lots of holes to drill. I don't mean to break any rules so pardon me in advance I have no idea who this car belongs to but I think it is very nice. He has a lower stance different wheels and more black accents so it goes good but this influenced me to get side splitters. Found on interweb.

I understand wanting to change the look of the car. I'm looking at doing something to my Camaro SS to set it apart. That said, I don't like how the side splitters and chin splitter look "tacked" on as an afterthought. The chin splitter doesn't look bad from all angles and maybe it's better in person, but the side skirts are a no go for me. I'd probably feel different if the Trans Am didn't already have a factory aero package on it.

So you're still on stock springs with no suspension mods?

Check these out for LCA's. If you read towards the end of the description you'll see why these make a lot more sense than everyone's standard poly/poly LCA.....

https://www.foundersperformance.com/...ble-poly-poly/

That and Strano or BMR springs with Koni shocks will change your life, lol.

It all depends on how much you want to spend. I talked to Sam about what I wanted to do with the car.......basically auto-x 2-3 times a year, but be a street car and not drag. You can see my sig for what road I went down.

Moneys not a problem when it comes to my TA lol I'll save for it shouldn't take long hopefully. I am leaning towards strano for sure though. They have some auto cross clubs here I'd like to participate in but I want to be able to drag it occasionally. Is Koni adjustable still the good setup for fbody ?

I did my suspension in stages. You should just give Sam a call and explain what you are looking for and he'll suggest a few options and why. I did some basics before buying a combo pack, so I went and grabbed SFC (3point), LCAs, and FSB. After that I did Fay's Watts link, sways, followed by the springs and struts. The biggest improvement was the watts as far as auto-x goes......at least IMO.
