Default Daytime Running Light Question

My 2000 Trans Am the DRL come on when I turn the key on of course.

My 2001 however they only come one when I turn the headlight switch on to either fog or headlight.

Does this sound like someone did the DRL mod to it to you or am I missing something? I dont believe my ebrake is hooked up but it doesnt have the lit up e-brake light on the gauge cluster.

In all reality the 2001 DRL's should come on when I turn the key right? Turn signal works jsut as it should and running lights work only when headlights switch is on to running lights or headlights.

Any help is appreciated.

I would hook up the e-brake properly and then reassess the issue.

It should work the same as your 2000 car. But if something is up with the e-brake or the wiring that signals the dash light, that might explain it. Otherwise, someone likely did one of the DRL disable mods.

Default Drl

The DRL on my Firebird does not come on with the key...They come on when I release the parking brake..If I don't have the brake set (Almost never)...They will come on with the key..Would look into getting parking working correctly then go from there....

How does one get to the E-Brake assembly to check the wiring and connection. I would assume, like mine, there may be some corrosion causing the fault.

You can remove the center console.

Thanks SS. I’m always nervous taking things apart on this car because of the age and hearing how brittle the plastic is. I removed the upper plastic piece that has the cup holder, ash tray and shifter boot. Now have to get to the lower piece.
