Default 94 firebird formula starter clicking.

Men, suggestions needed for 94 formula w starter that's clicking. Battery is full and even hooked truck up to it to. Car has 129,000 miles. Tricks or suggestions please! Cars on two jacks fixing to get underneath it and tap on the starter. Keep in mind I live by myself w a bunch of pitbulls so don't hv a helper right this minute. Trying to get a friend to stop by later this morning. Frustrating when ur friends disappear when u need help. Gonna throw my work boots and blue jeans on and will check back to see if anyone has suggestions. If only I had a lift!! Nothing like rolling around in the dirt

I don't know if you have another mode of transportation or not. If you do, you should be able to remove the starter and have it tested. You could also swap positions of your relays to test if your starter relay is defective by chance.

Thanks for ur reply! No one else did!! This car is my baby and I did hv two other vehicles but I lucked out. I tapped the starter w a hammer and it immediately cranked. Thanks again for ur response. It's nice to know there's at least ONE guy on here willing to help a lady mechanic. Kinda insulting considering I hv more tools and knowledge than the average Joe.... Reason I asked the question is because I was dreading to get underneath the car hoped someone would make a comment regarding the solenoid

Happy to try to help, lol. If you have to tap on the starter to get it to turn over I think you should prepare to replace the one you have now.

15mm for the mounting bolts. You'll also need a 13mm and a 8mm wrench to remove the wires connected to the starter solenoid.

What is your expectation for response time on posting a thread?

I would order a high performance starter from [non-sponsor removed] or Summit Racing and replace it before it dies on you.
