Default 94' Trans am problems

So my car recently developed an issue with Rpm drops in drive gear and while stopped. It doesnt occur immediately after start up but after about a 10-30 minute drive. Pretty much once its warm. Car drives okay but once I come to a stop it rumbles and drops from like 800rpm to 5 maybe 600rpm and rumbles really bad, I been putting it into park at lights because it doesnt do it while in park, its steady on 800rpm in park. And sometimes if I sit long enough in drive while stopped it surges like down below the 500rpm line and just about shuts off. Just replaced optispark, plugs and wires. Need ideas of what it could be.

It's likely a bad torque converter, locking up on you when it should be slipping. Shifting to Park or Neutral disconnects the driveline in the transmission and would take the pressure off this part when you are idling at a stop.

Could it be a sticky idle air control valve (or whatever its called: it bypasses the throttle valve to control the engine idle speed under varying conditions)?
