What are the "problems" with the 98 trans am's. I would just like to know that way I can keep a heads up on them.

There really isn't any problems specific to the model year, just typical problems that all F-bodies have.

I believe they have some electrical issues. I know they have the coil pack seperate, but other then that i'm not sure. Atleast you have larger injectors :D

Oh, and like all LS1's, some of them exhibit piston slap.

No electrical issues that I'm aware of... nothing the other years don't also have, anyway.

I havent heard of a 98 LS1 having piston slap yet, it seems to be a later trend. Other than the LS1 intake (97-00 LS1's) and the clutch for the a/c compressor not shutting off in time (98-00) they are just as good. Although the 98's did have slightly weaker rod bolts, but if your spinning it past 6,500 RPM's anyway, stronger ones should be used in any application 97-04. The 98 flexplate in the autos is stronger than the rest of the years also.

I wish I could find the bastard that started all these rumors about there being anything wrong with the 98s so I could kick him in the face

Do a search on the '98 model year. This topic has been discussed over and over.
