Can I get brighter bulbs for my tail/brake lights on my 74 Firebird? Mine work but are nowhere near as bright as the ones on newer cars?

The aftermarket is starting to make LED bulbs for the older cars, they might brighten things up for you, also make sure the harness is properly grounded and the socket for the bulb isnt rusted, that will cause resistance to go up and the brightness of the bulb to go down.

Don't newer cars have a different type of bulb than the older cars?
