Noise coming from the antenna.

Default Noise coming from the antenna.

when i put the radio on and the antenna comes up it makes a grinding type noise. it does it right when the antenna is just about all the way up. not sure what it is. i think there is a plastic gear, maybe thats going. help me out.

mine always makes a noise when its going up..if it doesnt stay on like that i wouldnt worry too much about it..

That's the sounds of the power antenna slowly giving out. It will eventually stop going up and down at all.

Don't worry, it's not that hard to change out. I had to do it to mine because the kid that I bought the car from, somehow broke the antenna so I wasn't able to get anything.

If you're not concerned about originality, you can get an aftermarket antenna for MUCH cheaper than the GM part. I bought an aftermarket one at Autozone. I like it better than the factory antenna because the tip of it is chrome. It looks good with my wheels
