Special coverage adjustment 05513

Im a parts manager at our local dealership in Georgia, today I recieved a new policy on our 00-02 f-body vehicles equiped with the ls1. Gm is extending the catalytic converter replacement warranty to 10 yrs or 120,000 miles. Left or right cats. Thought this might be useful. Sorry if its in the wrong section.

Ha! I wonder why? :) My 'bird loved to eat up cats....I went through like three in two years.

2000LS1TA 11-28-2006 07:50 PM

My cats are factory and are mint. They wont be there for much longer though :)

Acrylicophobia 11-28-2006 09:01 PM

Wait...could the cats be causing the rattling noise I hear under my car when I start off at a very low RPM? And can you get this warranty replacement if you aren't one of the first two owners?

If cat material has broken off and gotten into the muffler, maybe. Sounds like standard heatshield though.

It's for 10 years or 120,000 miles....my 'bird has 128,000 miles on it and the cats have been gone for over 3 years now.

Scott--are you running without cats

arvizu9618 09-07-2011 07:40 AM

Stupid Questions:

1. Will they replace both cats at once, regardless of whether its a 0420 or 0430 code?

2. Does SES have to be "ON" before they will replace?

Thanks,

Art

1) They'll just replace the faulty cats whether it's just one or both.

2) If you have a faulty cat, then the SES light is going to be one. Therefore, you can't just drive in and ask them to replace two working cats. Removing working cats is against the law, so most businesses aren't going to even consider touching them if they're good.
