I'd put it in the Parts for Sale forum with the word FREE in the title. That is the appropriate forum IMO. Plus that forum see a LOT more traffic than here.

You know, I thought about doing that same thing except down in the basement. I still have my stocker Maple Red hood just sitting, but I'm not sure what I'm doing with it. That was definitely one of my first ideas.
