Pontiac never made a big block. The Pontiac 400 and 455 are both small blocks.

not small blocks, just pontiac blocks,

as you said the big and small block nomenclature doesnt apply to the Pontiac engines, because they are all about the same exterior dimensions

pretty much correct except the 301 and 303 were short deck motors
neither were related to each other except maybe oilpan gasket or something
small like that.

Yeah, all four of them!! LOL!!! For those that have never seen a 301 intake port - they are siamesed: only two intake ports per head!! Yeah - performance!!!

Plus, the cranks were intentionally made weak (read light in GM engineering). Easily break.
