Fast Eddie's 02 T/A vert.

A co-worker was asking me questions about my 02 T/A,somehow he starts talking about the Z06 Vette.I told him i have the same motor in my T/A and he thinks i'm full of sh*t.He said there's no way you have the same motor as a Z06.

Am i right? If so how can i prove it?

You don't have the same motor as in the Z06. That has an LS6 motor, you have an LS1. Different heads, different cam.

Yep sorry buddy,
you have the same motor as the 03 Ls1 vette,
and a few of us even got the ls6 block. but it is not a ls6 by no means. but that would be nice

Same engine platform, slightly different parts. All parts are interchangable though.

LS6 has slightly better heads, slightly better camshaft specs.

Most later model 2002 LS1s are LS6 blocks though. Correct.

My buddy drives a 69 Nova w/small block.He's told me his Nova would leave me in the dust...he really doesn't have any respect for my car,i can tell by his actions.I've challenged him to a race anytime,he tells me i need a new carb and a posi rearend before i race you.He told me your car isn't even remotely related to a Z06..laughed at me infact.

That's OK,because i'm going to give him sh*t about his car until he races me.Claims his motor revs to 7000RPM.I'm thinking to myself,his motor revs to 7000RPM and he never got a posi under it.I think he's full of it.

Well the posi wouldn't have anything to do with how high he revs it unless he is talking about launching it at 7000rpm.

Be weary of the small block chevy, I've seen some mean *** sbc street cars run 10's n/a. They have so many options available to them. If his car is a fat sled stocker Nova with a mild 350, you will own him.

Let us know how the race goes if you get him to put out.

yea I had a 75 Camaro that me and a friend built a 400 sbc and put in it and it ran low 13's way back in 86, and that was a heavier car than that nova... but with all that said you should smoke him

NINEBALL, you said some later model 02 LS1's have have LS6 blocks, how do we find out, take the VIN # to the Chevy dealership?

In the new issue of GMHTP it gives a way to tell. It involves looking for a casting number on the back of the block I think (you need a mirror on a stick).

There is always a reason why they can't race. "I need XXXXX first..." or whatever. If he flat out says that he will mess your car up but refuses to race you, you tell him that chances are his car is a turd, and it's slow until proven otherwise. Tell him to shut his hole unless he's ready to run. You've offered, so in my book if all he can do is bash your car and offer excuses, then you've already won the race.

I used to deal with a guy like that. Said his stock C5 would take me out because my car is "just a T/A". He wouldn't run though. I told him he's lucky that he hasn't raced me yet because it would be very expensive for him to replace all the glass on his Vette after I blow it all out pulling away from him so hard...

The race is on for June 27th.it will be at grudge night and many of our co-workers will be there to see him get spanked.I found out he has the stock 350 w/cam and headers,no heads,3.73 w/4 spd...69 Nova.

I have 02 T/A vert,A4,3.42,FRA/K&N,SLP Lid,LM,descreened,HPP3,sportlines,bilsteins,KBDD,B FG DRs.

I challenged him in front of a couple of guys at work and he took the bait

Hard to say how fast your buddy's 69 Nova, could be a 14 second turd or an 11 second ride. Chances are if it does not have a big gear, converter, and lope like a top fuel car, then it's probably a 13 second car.

Put a small converter in your car and go crush him. With a converter, good shiftpoints and basic stuff you should go mid 12's no problem.

My car runs door handle to door handle with a 351 stroker in a 68 cougar.The couger ran a 13.5 in the 1/4 last weekend at the big track.I have to get a rollbar before i go out to the 1/4 mi.track.

I only have a mid 13s car however,i'm sure i will beat the Nova.
