lol.. damn!

well i guess i have an issue then.

it's odd because the horn works, so it can't be that the slip ring is bad.

has anyone experienced this?

I'm sure the horn and the lights use different contacts in the slip ring (or is it a FLA?), and different wiring elsewhere. Don't see anything odd about the horn working but the lights not.

its common for them to burn out. They have a cheap fix posted around here. They are very expensive from the dealer.

first is gonna be the fuse check for me.... the controls fuse is good, but it was suggested that the control lights have their own fuse. i'll check on that tonite.

Wonder if my lights use LEDs too like in the link above (my design is different). Props to GM for doing that instead of like the door handle light. You'll pretty much never have to worry about them going out. They may get dimmer, but they'll last years. Also, if you're good at soldering you could change their color simply by buying other ones.

They're called Surface Mount though, here's a site if you're ever interested.

those lights are not LEDS... hence them burning out. they are typical incandescent bulbs.

my door handle illumination was already replaced before i bought the car.

it's really not bad at all. my one sugestion is to buy an extra bulb.. in case you mess up.... luckily i didn't, but i should have got an extra.

also.. use a proper desoldering iron to remove the old bulbs.

Im just wondering if the dash cluster, and heat controls use simmular bulbs, because I found blue, and green 12v 50mA bi lead lamps... I dont like the stock orange. Im sure that the radio is leds, but I can work around that.

I vote sticky
I checked out the dash, and most of the controles.
It looks like a color change is possible but very difficult, so Im going to live with the red.
