Default Need to find kind of motor

I just obtained an 87 Firebird Formula yesterday. How do I tell if this car has the 305 or the 350 in it? I'm not a genius when it comes to GM motors. Is there some kind of motor code that I can find on the block somewhere? Or can I type the VIN in somewhere and it will give me some info about it?

8th letter of the vin is engine code.
H-305 160 hp
G- H.O.305 190hp
cant remember the other two codes. one is for the TPI and the other is for TBI.
the 350 was only TPI in that year. and if its an auto theres a possibility its a 350, standards didnt have a 350 option.

well TPI has TUNED PORT INJECTION wrote on the top of the motor so its kinda hard to not notice. TBI will presumably look almost like a carb motor. on the belt routing diagram under the hood typically on the fan shroud it shoud say 5.0 or 5.7. my IROC had a 305 hence my sticker said.....5.0

'87 Firebirds didn't come with LSx motors.......moving this to Pontiac Firebird forum (from General LSX Discussion).
