'87 T/A GTA 5-Speed Production #'s
What's up fellas? I have a quick question that I can't seem to find the answer to. Maybe you all can help. I am wondering about the production numbers on the '87 T/A GTA 5-speed. I found the number of produced GTA's to be 11,102 in 1987, but I am looking for the number of 5-speeds out of that 11k.
My apologies if this is in the wrong section of this forum, as I don't post much.
Thanks in advance.

I looked for one for a long time..My brother and I both found 87 Iroc's with TPI,5spds and 3:45 posi.. The TA's were very hard to come by..I bet they only made like 2,000 if that..The 5.7's didn't have t-tops.. The 5 spd's were faster also. I have owned both..

I think after 86 they resolved the T-Top flexing issue and 5.7/M5s were available... But it might be 88 that I'm thinking of. I'm pretty sure a bunch of the converts didn't get 350s though due to that and were limited to 305 TPIs (for the best motor). It's been a few years since I owned my 91 and my knowledge is dwindling to make room for 4th Gen knowledge heh

No the T-5 was not available with the 5.7L because it couldn't handle the torque of the 350. There was never one made. And sorry OP I can't help with your question...try Thirdgen.org

not sure on the 305TPI 5 speed GTA's (the 350 was the standard motor, the 305 was a credit option)
but i have heard in 89 you could get a 350 GTA vert as well as a T-top
the 350/t-top was a factory option, the vert was not... the verts were all supposed to be 305 TPI's but if you ordered a 350 T-top car and then it went to the dealer. At the dealer, you could then say "send that to ASC to be converted" for about $7k
i think there were ~ 50 1989 GTA Verts, as well as 2 1989 TTA verts

Well the thing is here, it's not a matter of no GTAs got a 350, but it's no GTAs got a 350 AND a manual trans. What I'm debating though is that I thought I remembered that problem being an early 3rd gen issue, and the later 3rds got a 350, manual and T-Tops.

Thats an impossible question to answer. Pontiac either kept very poor records or it has not released such detailed breakdown.
But 5 speed GTAs are pretty rare.
and Formula350--I think you are thinking backwards
There was never any unresolved powertrain combo. Maybe your thinking of the no 350 T-tops 90-92?
(except you could get a 91-92 Formula 350 with T-tops)
