X2, good eye, I just overlooked it, and forgot that they packed a Q-jet and not Holly carb. I agree that clones are not a bad thing as long as they are honest with everyone and do not pass it off as the real deal. Eather way it is nice to see a really clean 1st gen Props on the car show win

Nice car. It's actually tough to glean much info from just the VIN on the 1st gen cars...you'd really need to check out the body tag info to get the real scoop. All you can say for sure from the VIN is: "1969 Pontiac Firebird V8 Convertible, This car was the 6,012 made at the Norwood, Ohio plant. "
If your interested in details you can check out First Gen Firebird .ORG
You gotta love a survivor car like this...even if it is actually a clone. How many years has this thing been on the road now and it looks this good?
If this car is a TA, it is cerianly rare. Most of the convertible '69 TAs were had a white top, white paint with blue stripes. This one would be a rare TA vert bird since it appears to have a blue top, A/C and a 4speed.

+1, plus they didnt even make a Trans Am till 69
if we are gonna nitpick, it does have the wrong steering wheel, air cleaner and carb, its missing the filler panels between the radiator support and the hood latch plate, its a nice car though, wonder how original it is beneath the surface. never really been a fan of the 69 Birds, always been a wierd transition year to me

Where you two in the same judging class?
If so, no offense, clone or no, that's crazy that you took 1st over that. That's a great looking car you have, but I just can't see late models competing with classics at car shows.

In most shows there is a class for 67-81 and 82-02s but this show was small so they had all Camaros and Firebirds in one class. But as far as that goes I dont see how its crazy I beat him....we were put in the same class so the two cars were compared and I asume judged on a even basis and my car is in fact much cleaner and had a lot more attention to detail spent on it. I agree they should be judged on seperate things but just because his is old doesnt make it a better car and more deserving on of 1st place. Looking at the cars without bias mine clearly was the "better" show car...after all thats what I built it for.

Ok let me rephrase it... HE HAD NO IDEA OF THE VALUE OF THE CAR HE HAD.
