Purchased some Nitto NT05 tires.
I don't know if these are considered drag radials or not (for simplicity sake I called them drag radials in my race log), but they are considered 'performance' tires. Here is a link. http://www.nittotire.com/#index.tire.nt05
I bought them for the rears and size 245/40/19. This is about all I could find that was also a quality tire on the street. This is a permanent tire, and not to be swapped out at the track. I wanted to be like my Nitto 555's on my 05 A4 GTO, which was a perfect street/strip tire that I felt comfortable my wife could drive in rainy conditions and still be safe. I was looking for the perfect cross between a street and a strip tire.
I made several passes at the strip and was considerably unimpressed. On a night of great DA, I was able to get a couple of 1.96x 60' times, however since there was a headwind of about 10-15 mph steady against us, the times did not reflect the great DA we had.
I dropped the pressure to about 20 lbs and always did a good burnout to heat up the tires.
The bottom line is post tire change, I have had 5/11 60' times in the 1.98x range, but did not get any 12's. The last 11 races with stock tires found 7/11 races under 2.000 60' times and I had 4 races in the 12.9xx range. The DA on these were -100 for 6 races and -300 for 2 races, and -600 for 3 races.
To my buddy Joe (bracketracer on the G8 boards) my 12.933 will probably be my best bone stock time. This spring will probably bring a set of headers and a tune. Still a 12.933 is nothing to be ashamed of. My goal was to get a 12.9xx on the bone stock car, and after getting the 12.933, I really wanted to get some sort of 12.8xx, but this was not to be. Unless we get some sort of cold and freakish weather, the DA for the coming weeks will get worse. I think we have had our best DA, and the South Texas weather is starting to warm up. Even then, I am not bone stock anymore, so the 12.933 is it.
The bottom line is that these Nitto NT05 tires had no effect on the performance of my A6 GXP. None! If anything they brought down the car a bit as I was really learning to drive the car with the stock Goodyear tires. With the new tires I was launching harder, but getting zero advantages when the timeslip was given to me. One thing, I was not getting any wheel hop, but at Houston Raceway Park the wheel hop was not really a major problem.
One good thing is that by running any one of those 12.9xx runs, I earned a membership to the ls1tech 12 second club. Not too shabby for a bone stock 4330 lb car.

sorry to hear that about them tires i mould recomend the BFgoodrich KDWs i put them on my car and its got a livernois dyno tune and CAI and its a simple stab and steer these tire hold the road and are by far the best rain or wet tire i have ever had i'm not a fan of BFgoodrich but as long as theey make these i will not steer away from them. My last 15 sets of tires were the Nitto 555s and they just don't compare to the new KDWs if your close to mississippi if you wanta make some passes on my to see how yoou like them we can swap rear wheels i don't mind

astonishing! a tire is not great at something it wasn't designed for. no offense to the OP but people really need to learn that there's high performance tires geared more towards things other than drag.

I used those on my 300HP Talon and liked the grip and stability. I HATED the noise! I went straight from winters to those and thought they were a little loud, but it was hard to tell. I then wore them out at put INVO's on. The INVO's had very similar grip but were way more quiet.
