Default New pb, long story, but very interesting.

Houston Raceway Park (HRP) is really a fun place to play. I know our west end of Houston area G8 brothers love Sealy, but not me. IMHO it's the same difference between driving a G8 GT and a G6 GT. Seeing fall is starting to hit the Houston area, fall means lower DA, I thought about taking a trip out to HRP. Basically the DA was around 0 when I was making my runs.

I am thinking hard about doing some mods. I made 5 runs in the GXP in the 12.93 to 12.99 range, but this was done in around -400 to -700 range. I am looking about doing long tubes with high flow cats, 3200 converter, transmission cooler, and finish it off with a tune. I was thinking about Patrick G doing the work. I also saw that he was going to be at the track when I was and we could talk about finalizing some work details.

My first run, was a 13.072 @ 106.60 with a 60' of 2.020 and followed it directly with a 13.192 @ 106.19. Not too shabby for +400 air. Given 45 minutes rest and again do another back to back with the first netting 13.111 @ 107.27 with a 2.032 60' then quickly run a 13.255 @ 105.52 with a 2.049 60' time. The track was not hooking like it did with the first run. The track would be steadily going downhill through the night.

Patrick and I talk for a few minutes, and the next thing I see is him asking for my keys and making himself home in MY car. The nerve of the guy. He even has the guts to play with his laptop while in my car. Seeing that he wasn't playing hearts, I thought it best to leave him alone. I watch the screen and don't see anything I could do anything with. Thirty minutes later, he vacates my car.

He hands me my keys and basically says "try this on for size" while grinning.

Well..........................OK.

Nuff' said.

I must be driving another car. Not only was the seat of the pants better, but it was about a .35-.40 second difference.

The one thing that I really liked was that this was no dyno stuff, it was a real world track experience. Maybe the DA had gotten around 100 points better, but outside of this and outside of the track conditions slightly worsening, this was about as real as it gets. His tune (not a full blown tune, but a quicky) was worth around .35-.40 at the track.

Not only did I make a 12.77 run, but later followed it up with another 12.77 run.

Thanks Patrick G, you really earned my business and respect tonight.

Patrick is the man! Thats awesome that he tuned it on the spot for you. Just wait until you get the headers and converter. You should be easily in the low 12's

Jim,

Your car really responded to the tune. Look forward to even faster times with better weather. Then, you'll be able to go even faster with the upcoming mods!

Thats awesome, good run! Thats really cool of him! I like when a tuner is at the track and can make real world improvements! You'll love it with headers and stall!
