Default 2009+ CTS-V Brembo 6 Piston Front, & CTS-V Brembo 4 Piston Rear Upgrade DONE!

Hey guys,
I have had this mod wrapped up for 2 weeks now on the car. I cannot smile big enough at the improvement it made. I am gonna go to the shop and do a few things tomorrow, I'll have the wheels off the car, so I will snap some more pics and gather my PN list and post it here in this thread for all of you looking to do this upgrade...

Here are the PN's I used and other aftermarket products

FRONT;
  1. ACDelco 177-1105 OE Service Front Brake Rotor - Qty 2
  2. ACDelco 172-2488 OE Service Front Brake Caliper- LH
  3. ACDelco 172-2487 OE Service Front Brake Caliper - RH
  4. Front Brake Caliper Pin Kit - 25940448 - Qty 2
  5. Hawk HPS 08+ CTS-V Brake Pad Kit
  6. Edelbrock/Russell 639560 Speed Bleeder - 2 Kits
  7. M14x2.0x40 Flange Bolts (Fastenal) - Qty 4
  8. Flat Black CTS-V Vinyl Logo

REAR;
  1. ACDelco 177-1051 OE Service Rear Brake Rotor - Qty 2
  2. ACDelco 172-2309 Caliper Assembly - LH
  3. ACDelco 172-2308 Caliper Assembly - RH
  4. Rear Brake Pad Pin Kit - 89047728 - Qty 2
  5. Andy @ Squash Performance Rear Caliper Bracket Kit w/ Bolts
  6. Hawk HPS CTS-V Brake Pad Kit
  7. Edelbrock/Russell 639560 Speed Bleeder - 2 Kits
  8. Flat Black CTS-V Vinyl Logo

PRODUCTS ALSO USED;
  1. Russel Stainless Steel Braided Brake Line Kit
  2. ATE' Super Blue Brake Fluid

Brake System Torque Specs
  1. Front Caliper Bolts - 129lb-ft
  2. Front Caliper Bridge Bolt - 24lb-ft
  3. Front Caliper Bleeder - 124lb-in (10lb-ft)
  4. Front Caliper Banjo Bolt - 36lb-ft
  5. Rear Caliper Bolts - 96lb-ft (including adapter bracket)
  6. Rear Caliper Bleeder - 115lb-in (9.5lb-ft)
  7. Rear Caliper Banjo Bolt -36lb-ft

**NOTE**
  1. The Factory Parking Brake is not retained with just these items, you will need to acquire the custom Parking Brake Shoe from Adam@Squash (currently being produced)
  2. Make sure you use New Copper Washers, I did not use the washers supplied with the Russel Kit as they were not Copper
  3. The factory G8 steering knuckle Caliper Mount holes will need to be drilled out to 14mm. Any machine shop should be able to do this for you (Mine were done for $10)

As some of you know, I am a Service Manager at a GM Dealer, in which I pay 10% over cost, BUT THE ONLY GM PARTS I bought at my price level was the Brake Pad Pin Kits as they weren't avail through the online options I purchased everything else from cheaper than I could at my price level...Do the homework and you too will have the upgrade done for around $1700-1900 complete (now this is me doing the install) so you may have added cost involved if you can't do it yourself.

I did the following along with it;
  • BMR Subframe Connectors with Tunnel Brace
  • BMR Full Sway Bar Set
  • Eibach Spring Set

I powdercoated the SFC, SwarBars & Tunnel Brace the same color as the Calipers...The decal is Matte Black

Awesome upgrade. I really don't like the "V" logo on the calipers and would prefer just "Brembo" myself.

Have you noticed a difference in the feel of the brakes? How does the factory master cylinder feel with them? Seems like these brakes will require more fluid to work...
I am doing this install this summer, I HAVE to!

Thanks guys!! I definately LOVE the brakes now. NO FADE WHAT SO EVER. As for the Master Cyl the G8 is actually longer, but I am not certain of the bore dimensions between the two. I don't see ours not being suited though. I'm sure the same Master Cyl was used for the GXP 4 pot setup from the Factory

How was prepping the calipers for powder coating? Did you remove the pistons? How about the bleed bolt and tube crossover?

Prepping wasn't bad at all. I would say anyone with mechanical "know-how" can do it. As you can tell from the pictures, you rotate clamps around till all pistons are removed.

Having tech education and experience I wasn't worried what so ever though. I chose to prep them on my behalf so I knew if a Dust Boot or a Pressure Seal was knicked or compromised and could address it before installing it to find out the hardway. I did remove the bleeders, but left the Balance Tubes installed. I did not blast them as most coaters do this in house, and then "bake out" any oils. I removed the pistons, seals, and bleeders, brake cleaned, then soap & water...
