Default G8 GT fuel mileage

What kind of fuel mileage you guys getting? I went and looked at one this weekend with 80k miles on it. I have a newer ram getting 17mpg that's highway and city mixed. If I can get better than that I would more than likely go buy it.

I get 25+ on the highway. The best I had was 27. I honestly haven't looked at what I get around town.

While I'm not disappointed with the mileage, I would have expected more on the highway considering the AFM -- especially since I was able to get 30 in my [albeit, lighter] LS1 cars.

It all depends on the mix between city and highway driving. We see 15-16 city and 23-24 highway. But it sees almost all city driving so about 16-17 average.

I took a look at my DIC on my way home from work yesterday, and it says I'm at 17. This would be all city/rural and only a short, 7 mile (14 minute) commute each way.

I am VERY satisfied with my fuel mileage. I don't get the good mileage on the highway like some of these guys say they get, but I run 70-80 mph as our highways generally are 65-70-75mph around here. I've got 21.x, can't remember, but don't think I've ever seen over 22. But I also only drive for about an hour max on the highway.

My 27mpg was three hours on the Interstate with cruise set at 75 and hitting a few construction zones.

I get 27 going to Colorado and back to southern CA and every Vegas trip. Just set cruise at 75 and chill. Now you can get rid of gas as fast as you want and it's real temping when it feels smooth at higher speeds. Magnaflow cat back and k&n intake, rolling on gt 18s. And for reference I got 28 in my ls1/t56 2000 camaro. Cruise control is the best.

Maybe not exactly pertinent, but with headers and tune I average 20-21 mpg 50/50 city highway calculated on actual usage not the DIC.

I figured that I would ask this here instead of starting another thread. I'm finally going to have time to go look at this tomorrow, actually two of them.

What should I look for besides the usual things that all cars get checked for? This is sorta an impulse buy so I haven't had much time to check out g8 forums or even know anyone with one

I did not feel as though I really needed to check anything out aside from normal used car buying stuff like condition, maintenance records, etc. I will say that a few things I noticed during my G8 search which would immediately sour me:

Black plastic "trim" around windshield and on door at the bottom of window opening -- cracked, dry rotted, etc. seemed to be quite common, but certainly not on all that I saw (mine had one small chip missing on the driver door).

Check when/if the front control arms had been replaced under warranty. Mine were replaced early on before the "updated" arms came out. They started clunking after a couple thousand miles after I purchased the car. It's only a couple hundred bucks, but certainly a bargaining point.

Door lock actuators seemed to be a common warranty concern when I was searching as well. Not sure exactly what the deal with those is, but just a point to note.
