G8 AFM disable question - possible w/out a tune???
I have a 2008 G8 GT. Wifes car, 100% stock.
This time last year I had #4 intake lifter lock up and that is when I learned of the issues with AFM/DOD with these cars. I pulled both heads and upgraded all AFM lifters w/ the updated AC Delco parts. Figured it was done and over. This week it happens again. Same lifter - #4 intake.
Yesterday I managed to get it unstuck w/ a dead blow and a long extension on top of the pushrod. Car started and sounded fine. Didn't get 1/2 a mile and the DOD kicked in an locked the same lifter. I managed to get it unstuck again this morning. Now I want to tune out the AFM. But that requires a drive. I need a way to block the AFM from activating until I can get to a tuner (DFW area). I tried unplugging the connector on top of the valley cover that powers the solenoids. That put the car in limp mode.
Can I unplug the MAP? Oil pressure sender? Something to temp disable the AFM/DOD?
Plans are to later when I have more free time (new job and school at night until May) to do the AFM/DOD delete and put a LS2 cam in it. Something stock for the wife.
Need help guys. Done tons of searches. Nothing so far.

Remember, I just need to drive it like 20 miles to meet up w/ a guy who can tune it out. I need it to be simple and fool proof. If the DOD activates even 1 time, that lifter will lock and I will have to stop where I'm at.
I'm hoping that the brake booster vacuum sensor being unplugged or the oil pressure sender being unplugged will do it, but I just don't know if limp mode will be engaged by doing this.

OK - good news.
Unplugging the oil pressure sensor will keep AFM/DOD from kicking in. Verified w/ a 20-30 minute drive.
My 2008 does not have the Engineering Mode so I can't visually see if AFM is or isn't kicking in, but last time I drove it w/ everything connected, the lifter locked-up in under 1/2 mile. Did 20 plus miles just now with the oil P sender unplugged. There is a service engine light and nothing reads on the dash for oil pressure. This should allow me to get to my guy to tune it out. Then I'll connect the sender back up.
I wanted to post this for anyone else who may need to do the same thing.
I will be ordering the delete kit soon and either a OEM LS2 can (Camaro?? - what year??) or a very mild cam since it is the wife's car.
