Anyone know the transponder type in the key? I bought a flip key from China and it didn't come with one in it. They sent one when I told them. I've got the key cut and trying to program but it won't program. Even took it to the dealer and they can't program it either.

I'm having the same issue with my china key and even with an OEM used caprice key and I took the transponder key out of. I can't program from the cluster.

I haven't tried the 35 minute method because it erases all keys, and if that doesn't work with the new key, I lose my old key then I can't drive the car!

I do have a check engine light on, but it's for evap and MAF, i'm not sure if that as any effect on programming keys. My only other thing to look into is replacing the antitheft module and seeing if that helps.

The dealer didn't have any other solutions other than the long method and they didn't want to strand my car either.

Most likely because the non-flip Fixed key that was part of the recall is Huge and obnoxious in your pocket.
