Default G8 V6 to LSX...who has done it?

Hey everyone. Just bought a clean one owner G8 GT with the 3.6. Only 105k and completely stock. Plan on driving as a daily for a few years and possibly doing an LS swap. Shouldn't be too difficult considering they optioned them that way. Guessing I would need a lot of GXP parts right? Anyone done this? I know I could just buy one with the V8 but this car was cheap and is a pretty cool car as is. Any input is welcome.

Here she is...

You would need a complete other car to do it. May as well just buy a GXP and save lots of work. Lots of them out there with some miles that are nice.

Some years ago there was a kid on here who did it. You may have to search long and hard, but maybe you'll find his thread. What you need is a wrecked GT from which you can pull the entire powertrain, wiring, and controllers.

You sir have a clean one owner G8 base, the GT has a 6.0L V8 (L76) and the GXP has a 6.2L V8 (LS3). I have been thinking about one of these as my next project car though as they are really cheap. If you just want it to run and drive and dont care for it to be a DD it will be super easy to do.

Sell it and buy a GT or GXP. No need to reinvent the wheel. You will age 10 years in the 12-18 months it will take to build it.

12-18 months WTF? I rewired my entire car in like 2 weeks. 12-18 months I had like 4 different turbo kits made and swapped trans three times lol

He's talking about swapping out the V6 for a V8. Little more complicated to change an engine than some wiring or adding a turbo. You can't even swap a module in a late model GM without getting it programmed and some can't be programmed at all if the VIN doesn't match.

Its not that hard... engine swap takes a couple hours. Use ECM from V8 you can change VIN in HPtuners, keep moving, more working less excuses!

Same people thought a manual swap was hard, it takes 3 hours. Keep BCM working and run Holley for ECM, its wiring. Its only as hard as you make it.
