Not sure if this rep. just didn't know what they were talking about but I went to the LA Auto Show last month where they had the G8 GT on a rotating pedistal with the doors open and I asked the rep. if this Holden made G8 GT was going to have the LS3 and they said it would not. They informed me that the G8 GT would be running on some 6.0L truck engine with the same capabilities of the LS3... of course they could give me no explanation as to why they are not using the LS3. Where these reps at the auto show on crack or can anyone verify this?

My question is, why pay extra for the LS3?
I understand that the Vette is going from the LS2 to the LS3, giving you the L92 heads and more power potential out of the box. But the L76 already has the L92 heads. It just has a slightly smaller bore. With the same mods (cam, ported heads, headers, tune), the L76 will be very close to the LS3 at the end of the day.
The GT will be cheaper to begin with, thus leaving more money for the power goodies anyway. Unless the GXP will come with bigger brakes, better suspension, why pay a few grand more for essentially the same car? Sure, it may have another 60-70HP off the showroom floor, but with the same heads and manifold, will 12cid really make a huge difference once some mods are done?
I'm really looking forward to the GT, but I won't be sorry if the GXP comes out with the LS3 and is another 3-4k more. The only good news is that the GTs will drop in price some in the resale market.

And you could mod the LS3 to even higher numbers.
Hopefully the general's new cars will be like the olden days when you could get a base V8 and mod the **** out of it.

I was reading on motortrend when they put the c6 z06 motor in an hsv version and in the article it said something about the new 425hp g8 gxp version. Im sure thats speculation but thats what i was thinking it would be around LS3 territory. http://www.motortrend.com/features/p..._0712_hsv_gts/

I have some one picking my car up at the end of the month. Once it is gone I am saving up a nice down payment for the gxp!!! If it does not come out I will get a GT and already have money for mods, so Im ready to go!!!
