Looks like Jacobs twin Pontiac/GMC in Joliet IL is first to have the GTO, only about 30mins for me! Looks like they have about 8 and one Devil yellow/black interior M6, thats the one I want!

We are getting ours in about 15 days...the guy we sold it to has a 100 pt 1964 GTO that he said he would loan us if his two red gtos could sit in the showroom together...
of course he could!

Ok they have 1 still its the only one on Retail in the nation, online it showed they had 8 the other night. Maybe ones to be delivered this week???

Well, Devil Yellow and I went and looked tonight and there was nothing on their small lot. There may be a possibility that if they do have them, they may be offsite at a holding facility like most dealers have for excess inventory.

If it wasn't for the GTO, GM wouldn't have an affordable sports car on the market today. Look at our choices. Front wheel drive Impalas and Grand Prix's. We've got the Corvette, but only 2 seats. The CTS-V, but $45K+. Our GTO's will be gone, gone, gone. Only 18,000 copies and going on ebay for $7,000+ MSRP. Incredible. Thank god for GMS.

I must admit though, if I only needed 2 seats the Corvette would be in my garage. Only $36,000 through GMS. What a bargain!

Alot of thoes ebay auctions seam to be a right to buy the GTO in the first place kinda like a bump to the front of the line(or front of the que as they say in aussie land.)
The commodore was planned to be imported in 97 as the (regal?) but some sort of buick. That plan did involve a few LHD commodores going stateside many years before the VT being released in australia (1992 to be exact) but didn't materialize obviously.
But the raising australian dollar and lowering american dollar may be matters less expected for the GM bean counters. But anyway.
If so many people hold such a harsh opionion of the GTO many of thoes bashers are suprised to hear it is offered with a manual trans, some havn't seen it and already bash it.
If the future doesn't turn out well for it which just can't see happening or if they make a heavy redesign 1 or 2 years from now. I'll be happy knowing I'll have a nice investment and my favorite car too boot maybe i'll buy two of them.
Holden makes such a passionate car for australia and even in worst era for tailpipe emissions Holden still made some good cars well into the 250hp area, for the 80s that was good a fully optioned 88 Trans Am GTA only had 220hp so figure.

Holden is the only GM brand holding the line for RWD V8 cars. Don't be surprised if you see a lot more 'niche' products coming out of Australia.

I would disagree with these 18,000 cars will be gone, gone, gone, Afterall 18,000 cars is alot of cars. Within a year these things will be sitting on dealers lots and most likely being price reduced just like eveything else. Look at the '03 Cobra that they only made 10,000 of, They were getting $5k over sticker in the early spring and not a month ago you could buy a new one for for $27k (thats $6k under sticker!). I will bet anyone the same will happen with the GTO.

The waiting list right now is 6 months. So I'll take that bet. See you in November '04.

I would agree 100% with that statement. They made 6K less WS6's for '02 and you had no problem finding those on lots well into 2003.

You are not comparing apples to apples with either the cobra or the WS6. Sure, there were only limited runs of these versions, but there were many many more TA's and Mustangs made and sold for each of those years. I'm not saying you probably won't be able to find a GTO to buy 6 months from now - but I highly doubt you will have a 20% discount on the car. I'm fairly certain Pontiac is selling this car for very little if any profit as is. (And the dealer invoice is 29K).

If I buy a GTO, it will probably be in a year or two. The prices should come down to MSRP or less, and there will be used ones out there to consider.

I think my days of buying the newest latest thing are over. My 98 Formula cost me 501/month, and I paid that for the 4 years I owned it. My '02 SS convertible LE with all the options ($39K msrp) only costs me $480/month at 1 year and 10K miles old, and it is twice the car my Formula was.

I don't think the cars will move instantly, far as sales velocity goes the new mini copper is the best they only last on a lot for 14 days avg. The dealership i'm at sells 1,000 cars a year and is considered middle sized. I couldn't imagine GM giving a big discount right now the dealership is holding off telling me if I can have my corporate employee rate (package 1).

Its actually called a PEP vehicle.
My father has been at GM for 30 years and having a business car you can choose to purchase the business car after it has obtained X amount of milage. The more miles the larger the discount. You can order a car to drive as a business car with the intention of purchasing after X amount of miles.
The other option is to buy a vehicle off the lot.
That is the PEP program in a nutshell.
However two pontiac dealers say the GTO may not be available to employees and I should wait.

Jacobs twin says they have them according to their website and www.traderonline.com so far nobody has seen any. Wolf Pontiac told me middle december they should have them in stock. Haggerty Pontiac didn't know when they were getting theirs. These dealers tell me beyond the Pre ordered GTOs their is a list I was put on to call when they have one in the showroom.
