I had just recently lost 5th 6th and reverse and so i decided to tear the tranny apart and this is what i found.

Some how i ripped the teeth off of the cluster shaft where it joins with 5th 6th and reverse inside the tranny.

Thats about all that i have noiced wrong inside the tranny so far.

Any body know the difference with the F-body T56 and the GTO T56 other then gearing?

Were you grinding gears previous to losing 5th and 6th?????? How long have you had it and how many miles??? As for the Fbody T56 and the GTO T56 besides the gearing they are generally the same....

yeah, the parts for the GTO t56 are a lot more expensive......lol.
seriously, man, if you're going to rebuild it, the blocker ring setup is the same as the Corvette, hence the greater expense when you do the rebuild.

i have had it for about 4 months, it has 62k miles. it has had several other owners. about a month after i got it it started to grind into first and second.

Looks like somebody was pounding shifts in the gears you're supposed to use to cruise....
