Default Isn't the GTO basically a 6 Year Old Design?

It's a nice car and everything but isn't the design 6 years or so old with a few styling updates. Or am I wrong..

Monaro/GTO derived from VT Commodore introduced August 1997. 2-door "Monaro" concept car first shown at Sydney Show 1998.

Yes, ever evolving improvements since introduction.
Commodores are as follows: From August 1997,
VT and VT II (intro of Gen III)
VX and VX II
VY and VY II (current production)
