Default Next GTO Mod?

im thinking of getting the GM hot cam, yes i know i can get a better one with a little more money BUT im trying to save, you never know whens your last day @ work besides i dont really want to mess inside the engine too much, has anyone installed this cam by themselves? I really need as much info on this cam and any afterwork so i can be prepared mentally and $$

My current setup on my GTO is mainly bold ons:
AEM cai
FAST 92 mm throttle body and intake manifold
pacesetter LT headers
no cats, only SLP shotgun mufflers

future mods:
GM camshaft
new coil packs

SNL will do a cam with dual springs and a tune in ONE DAY for less than 1500. They have a cheaper install with basic springs.

Don't waste your money on coil packs.

Don't waste your money on that cam either. If you don't have the $$$ for a different one, wait until you do.

New coils are a waste of money too unless your old ones are actually faulty.

Save up and then do a head and cam combo.

The GM hot cam will not give you much over the stock cam.

You have the intake side and exhaust side done already which would make a head & cam upgrade shine, so just save up some more and do it properly.

It's best to save up for what you actually want.

Biggest bang for the buck is a cam, but you need a a good sized one not the hot cam. You will need a stall if its an auto.

If you go with the "HOT" cam, you will be kicking your self in the *** a week later when you are disappointed and want more power. A cam is pretty much something you want to do once. Not sure where you are located at, but as mentioned, SNL Performance in Ft. Worth can hook you up on a cam install.

Yes, SNL has one of the best LS tuners around (his name is Matt). The shop is located near Haslet just north of Ft. Worth. Google SNL Performance to find the address. I've drove all the way from Kansas twice to have them work on my car. They are good people and will treat you right.

That's cause you have a slow car.

My car is at SNL right now, for the 4th or 5th time having (different) work done. They are good guys. Give them a call, and yes they can tune for your new cam. They also offer custom grind cams, so call them before you buy. 817-750-2000
