Traction. With my stock, auto 06, I ran 13.0 at 106, so you've got the mph to do it, and I managed that on the 235 series that the 18s come with. BTW, the week before, my PB had been 13.7 as well.

Other then custom made "hardcore intakes" and the vararam or DMS ram air systems, all aftermarket intakes available for the GTOs are basically hot air intakes.

I ran a 13.2 @ 106 bone stock and a 12.8 @ 109 with LT's and Tune... It all depends on DA and Temp... Ya you see guys running lower than you but you have to take into consideration that not everyone is running at your track... Each track has a different DA do to location... DA stands for "Dense Altitude", The higher the DA at the track the slower your time will be... That plays a huge factor in your times...

Why are people complaining about the track times?
My hot rod is apart in the garage, so I convinced my wife to take her 05 auto to the track, first pass ever for the car, first pass ever for her.
Full tank of fuel, leave at idle, no burnout, left the trans in "3", traction control on, me riding along to show her the turn out & return road. She weighs 150, I weigh 180, Right lane #845F.
Only real "cheat" would be that it was pretty cool out last night, about 55 degrees when she made this pass.
Mod's on her car: flowmasters & air filter she paid $14K with 35K miles.
What am I supposed to complain about? Her first pass ever was close to some of the better stock 1969 GTO numbers I have found, and I assume those are 4 speed numbers.
Only made one pass because she got kicked out for no helmet.

Can you either post it up as an image or tell us what it ran? You should click the image and see if you can read it.
And I have alot of respect for people who can pull a sub 13.7 in a basically stock GTO with a manual. It takes skill to do it. Not so much if you just stick it in "D".

I agree that running a stick at the track is much harder than auto. My comment was directed towards: "Just another story cementing the fact that GTOs are indeed slow"
How can an 05 GTO be considered "slow" if my wife, with zero experience in a stock auto car with a full tank of gas and a 180# passenger can go out to the track and run 13.86@101 on her first pass ever???

Over 2 seconds to go 60 feet and you dont think that hs anything to do with it?!? who the f$#%^ said that? ..doesnt matter.. fix that and your in the 12's
Plus PIR is not the greatest of tracks ( its a road coarse that they try and make money with drags on), poor prep usually.. go to Woodburn and you should fare better

I really don't think that is a bad time for a stock street car on street tires.
The GTO is heavy compared to a 60's era mid size cars, probably at least 300 pounds heavier due to air bags, power seats, stereo crap, more crash bracing...
But: How many 60's cars could run better than 14 flat right off the lot, with full exhaust and street tires? Even if you give them a set of new 235 radials, I bet it is a lot harder to find one than people think.

Your wife's time was outstanding for a newbie at the track with zero experience. Give her some practice time and a good track with a good DA and she should be in the 13.1-13.3 range.
If you look at this site. http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html you will see that a 13.3 is faster than most 60's and early 70's muscle cars.
