Monaro, you cannot read it if you do not like it. If others can have half naked chicks in their sig, I can have my opinion (which is pretty much what all of our sigs are). And, it is not being forced on you Monaro, you read it of your own free will, you can go to a limp wristed liberal site if that will make you happier.

Back on topic (join a political forum or pornography site for that stuff),
I love the new GTO, everything about it. I own a Grand National, and in many ways the GTO reminds me of the old GN, a nice, large, fast, comfortable GM coupe. Something I've been wanting for a very long time.
I haven't been able to drive a GTO yet, the only dealer that has one near here won't let anyone drive it unless they buy it, which is pretty sad. I'm hoping as more of them trickle into the U.S. that the markups and dealer elitism will fade.
I also hope GM sells the Ute here, especially since the FTA was signed with Australia eliminating the US tariffs on "trucks" like that. I'd certainly get one as a new El Camino SS over the GTO if it was available.

I dunno... The new Goat isn't all bad. I'm actually not opposed to the wheels in the pic though I admit I haven't seen one in person. It really reminds me of the Monte Carlos that looked like Luminas. Just kind of bland. The Monte Carlo is another car that GM has really shat on. I know I was looking for a more obnoxious and beefy reintroduction of the GTO as a muscle car. American Muscle.
Instead it seems GM is finally changing directions to compete with the euro markets. E.G. C6 Corvette. Euro headlights. Half a foot shorter and two inches skinnier. Better interior. I know a lot of corvette purists who are disgusted by the loss of retractable headlights and despise the new corvette. For the most part though I think its going to be more likely to steal a merc or bmw driver than the old corvette was. Same with the GTO.

GM really needs to forget about the "long-since-over" name badges and come up with something new. I think if it weren't for the fact that the platform is wearing the GTO nameplate, it wouldn't be getting a hostile and lukewarm reception in this country. I would have called this car something else, simply because I'm tired of the rut that's common in domestics. I think the Monaro is a really good car! I've seen the GTO at an auto show and was really impressed with it. I thought the wheels were also nice. I'm really tired of every car that comes out domestically being a dragstrip *****.

Monaro, if you open your eyes and read the post before mine you will see that someone asked a question about my sig and I answered that question, that is what you read. You would not want me to be uncivil now would you???

I think the GTO name is a great name to have on this car. This is the modern interpretation of what the GTO was and would have been had it still been in production. The GTO is and was a medium sized car with a bog engine (346 is bog for our day and age and plenty of power). The original GTO was designed to be a muscle car but have enough flair to stick it to the Europeans as well. I think GM is on the right track with the Goat and Vette, now if only they can make an FBody and a Chevelle (Chevy version of the new Goat).

I think the interior is the second strongest point of the car, after the Engine.
Incredibly nice inside, feels more expensive and substantial than a G35 coupe, more like a BMW. Solid closing doors, real metal accents, firm solid feeling plastic, and those seats are amazing.
Then flop the drivers seat forward, push the button and it glides out of the way on power tracks (yes, manual would be faster, but the G35 is exactly the same speed) and you have easy access to the back seat. Once back there, TONS of room, much more than in a G35. I couldn't get my knees to touch the drivers seat, and my head was nowhere near the headliner.
The exterior is nice, though the rear styling is uninspired. But this is not a car I would buy because of the way it looks on the outside. I would buy it for it's capabilities and the way it feels on the inside.
