Default GTO, LS6 block???

Did the GTO get the LS6 block or an LS1 block???

LS6, they stopped making the LS1 block at the end of 02 I believe. So all the new blocks are the LS6 design.

Then why not just call it an LS6 (a detuned LS6)???

Because it still has LS1 internals, heads, and cam.

They still call it an LS1 block because it still uses the LS1 internals.

As near as I can tell (still waiting for my car and haven't been able to confirm some of this) the gto has:
LS6 block
LS6 intake
LS1 Heads
An LS1 cam - but different than other LS1's - specs:
196/207 degrees duration at .050, .479/.467 lift, and a 116-degree LSA.
It also is supposed to have the updated pistons without the piston slap.
