Default Custom or handheld tuner?

OK, I go pick up my 2005 A4 GTO 1000 miles away tomorrow. It has exhaust already, I wanted to throw a Vararam CAI on it real quick. Now, with those few mods, is a custom tune going to be worth it? I want to do some suspension work before I get too deep into mods. So its going to stay intake, exhaust, tune for a while. I have no problem spending the extra $$ for a custom tune, only if it will provide a little extra gain. I want to make it an all around great car, before I hit headers/cam, I need to make it handle good. What do you guys think?

A custom tune is going to be worth it stock, it is going to help the autos shifts and really dial the car in the way it should have been from the factory. It will for sure put a smile on your face!

yes a custom tune is the way to go..hand helds are nothing but a generic tune where a custom tune will get the most out of your car..not all gto's respond to the same tune.

Thank you. I learned that with my old truck, however wasn't sure with the GTO...I appreciate it...think it will be a noticeable performance gain?
