Default 05 gto paint help

i recently bought a new gto. its black and i was wanting to paint the gto plastic part underneath the bumper. ive never done paintwork before and was wanting to try it out. any help on what the process should be would be greatly appreciated.

Because of its location id just use some formula 2001 on it to shine it...if you put any paint down there as soon as you touch a curb it will start peeling and look worse than it does now

id really like to have it painted flat black. i think it would look good. i think i have to get paint with flex coat in it. do i need to sand it first?

It's been so long since I had that peice I can't remember if its textured or not....if its smooth is sand it with 400 grit wet paper, if its textured I'd use fine scotch brite.

Then spray on some adhesion promoter

Then use a paint like (rattle can) Fusor from Krylon that is made just for plastic...spray it as thin as you can because the thicker the paint is the easier it will chip and flake

I should have specified.im talking about the rear bumper where it says gto

Yup scuffle it good, shoot some adhesive promoter on it and blast away

Don't even need to scuff it, it's plastic. That's why people use adhesion promoter because you can't scuff plastic.

I used that stuff with a can of flat black bumper coating and it looks great and has held up so far.

i sprayed mine two years go, took it off, masked it, cleaned it and used some krylon plastic paint then clear coat. steal looks good, starting to show red since the rocks hitting it but im doing it again lol

after the flat black paint job. took about 2.5 hours total. i love it.
