Default 6.0 oil loss?

Hi guys. Ever since I got my car, I noticed that I was losing a little bit of oil every once in a while. Not sure where the loss was coming from, but I was talking to a guy today and according to him a lot of GTOs use oil and GM never solved the problem. Is this true? What do you think?

yea GM used to send letter to all GTO owner that its normal for GTO to use oil but in my opinion they did it so they dont have to do recall on those cars.

How much oil are you losing/consuming?

Not much, pretty minimal. Just wanted to see if it was common or something I should worry about.

Take a look inside the intake manifold.

"Minimal" amount of oil consumption for a 6 speed, depending on driving habits, is normal. Some do burn more than they should though.

1 quart every 2k miles is considered normal. Easy way to tell is change the oil fill to the top of the hatch marks. After 2k mile it is at the very bottom of the hatch marks that is 1qt

Leaving it in gear on decel? Or a downshifter?

Never had a problem burning oil with mine.

Usually take it out of gear, but I do some fun driving every once in a while too

It's pretty common with LS2's.

Just gotta keep an eye on it every few thousand miles.

manuals will tend to use more if you keep them in higher RPM ranges in lower gears.

2+ between oil changes (assuming one waits 5,000 miles to change the oil) should not be considered normal . I've had 3 LS2s, current is a stock a4 and does not burn a drop. Had a cammed m6 that burnt about a quart between changes and also had a cam/maggie/etc m6 that maybe burned half a quart between changes. Yes i know have had a lot of goats...
